Conference Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Define the necessary components of a comprehensive assessment of chronic pain and the importance of each in a multimodal approach to patient care
Discuss degrees of success attained by analgesic regimens in terms of effect on function and quality of life
Cite key evidence, including peer-reviewed medical literature, that can help the practitioner develop treatment strategies for chronic pain
Identify and manage adverse events related to pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment regimens
 
Target Audience
This conference is designed for pain specialists and primary care physicians.
There are no prerequisites.
 
Accreditation Statement
The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

This interdisciplinary approach allows for pain specialists and primary care physicians to interact more closely than many professional situations permit. The conference provides an opportunity for these two groups to openly discuss the day-to-day challenges they experience and consider the most appropriate ways to work together to provide the best care possible for their respective patients.
