Dear Colleague:

On behalf of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Institute of Applied Science & Medicine (the Institute), I cordially invite you to attend the annual American Conference on Psychiatric Disorders on September 7-8, 2007, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in New York City. This 1½-day continuing medical education (CME) conference will provide unique insights for psychiatrists and primary care physicians and an opportunity for both groups to discuss issues of common interest. The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 10.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

The American Conference on Psychiatric Disorders will provide practical insights into the diagnostic and therapeutic management of anxiety disorders, depression, and schizophrenia.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Describe advances in neuroimaging, proteomics, and genetics and their promise to improve the diagnostic and therapeutic management of psychiatric disorders.
Explain the neurobiological basis of various psychiatric disorders, including anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia.
Implement evidence-based pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment modalities for a variety of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression.
Identify and refer patients to complementary community behavioral programs to improve the social, occupational, and living skills of patients with a psychiatric disorder.

The American Conference on Psychiatric Disorders has been realized through a partnership between The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Institute. The Institute, a McMahon Group company, is working in cooperation with three of McMahon’s publications, CNS News, CNS Senior Care, and Primary Care Quarterly. The world-renowned Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is providing clinical support as well as certification for the program.

We are certain this event will prove to be a valuable educational experience
for psychiatrists and primary care physicians alike. I look forward to seeing you in
New York!

Sincerely,

Glenn J. Treisman, MD, PhD
